The Sala del Mappamondo was created in 1688 in honor of Queen Christina of Sweden and today represents the heart of the ancient Spezioli Library. The hall takes its name from the large globe inside dating back to 1713.
Within this library is a vast collection of printed and handwritten texts, as well as ancient medical treatises, herbals, and cosmography texts, many of which belonged to the Fermian physician Romolo Spezioli.
